What I'm looking forward to: Autumnal Edition
What are you looking forward to in this coming season?
Here's what I'm looking forward to:
- Apples. Yes, apples make my mouth itch (thanks, oral allergy syndrome) but apple cider. Apple pie. Cider donuts. Apples. That's a great fruit. And it's apple season.
- Getting my new planner. I'm so excited to try out a Hobonichi Weeks in 2027--I had a Hobonichi Cousin Avec last year
- Midterm Elections. I realize this is a weird one because politics is nothing but stressful but I also see a lot of potential to slam some brakes on this runaway train and a lot of opportunity to protect and safeguard programs and rights. And that gives me hope. I need to sign up to phonebank. That's a good reminder.
- Fall cleaning. I know most people do a spring cleaning but I'm doing a fall cleaning this weekend. I've been on a decluttering kick, and next comes a deep cleaning kick, and rethinking how my space works for me and how I can make my home a more joyful space.
- Blankets. I don't like the heat. What I yearn for is the cooler weather so I can be warm under blankets, but not in a sweaty way.
- Sweaters. I have a lot of good sweaters. Did I just get them all cleaned and put away just a few weeksa go? Yes. Is it time to pull them out again? SURE IS. I am ready. See above, the note about blankets.
- Fall releases. There are a lot of great books coming out this fall and I'm so excited for all the cozy reading.
- Crispy leaves. Fellow millennials of a very specific generation, do you remember the FB page "I will go slightly out of my way to step on that crunchy leaf"? One of the OG FBs.
- Pumpkin pie. I don't like anything else pumpkin. But I do like pumpkin pie.
- Flannel. I realize I'm a queer meme but I'm really into flannel. I have flannel locked and loaded. I'm ready to go. Bring on the flannel times.
- Firepits, fireplaces, fires. Not to sound like a pyro, but to me, summer isn't really the firepit season. Fall is. I'm ready for some cozy fire times.
- Cooler weather. I'm over summer. I don't like being sweaty and hot. I hate the humidity. I am looking forward to cooler weather.
- Fall colors. I feel like that's my palette, but also, when I'm walking and exploring in the fall, it just feels so...good. I have no words. I find something exciting and hopeful in the fall color palette. It makes me giddy. It doesn't feel like things dying. It's so warm and beautiful.
- Good trail riding weather. My horse has been laid up for a long time but I am hopeful that she's feeling better this fall because fall trail riding is the best
So what are you excited for this fall? What are you looking forward to?
